Sarah Bettens: Not Insane

I was poking around online for the past while and found this video by Sarah Bettens and I thought it was worth posting on. Check it out here. She did this track on the Underworld soundtrack called All of This Past that really blew me away. I’m glad to see she has her own album coming out now. I also found that she used to record with a band called K’s Choice which I’m digging up some torrents on as I type this. Definitely worth a listen.

How to Quickly Get In Trouble

So, I did tell someone that I would never ever mention them on here, but whats the fun in that? The best way to learn about someone is to begin some sort of silly conflict and see how they handle themselves. Do they keep it all bottled up until it just explodes out after forgetting to say “God bless you” after they sneeze? Or do they immediately fire back with ICBMs aimed at your face?

Vote STV!

For those of you who live in BC but haven’t heard of the Single Transferable Vote (STV) you may want to read this article by Rafe Mair. It doesn’t really get into the details of the process which is, to be blunt, kind of complicated. But the fallout of such a system could be a more accountable government and more public involvement in goverment which, in my opinion, is a good thing.

Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform who were tasked with finding a new method of electing officials following the 2001 election where, with only 59% percent of the popular vote, the Liberals came out with 98% of the seats.

Family Guy Returns!

Family Guy has returned once again to Fox and if you don’t watch it, I will kill you. Especially if you are a Nielson family. The opening quickly put to rest any fears of the show losing its sense of humour or randomness. The episode was not the best of the series by any means, but it was a consistently funny (hilarious at times) episode that is easily a good candidate for repeated viewings.

I’m not a man who enjoys spoiling jokes, so I will refrain from leaking anything… besides this one joke from the opening!

Peter: Everybody I’ve got bad news. We’ve been cancelled!

Lois: Oh no! Peter how could they do that?

Peter: Well unfortunately Lois there’s just no more room on the schedule. We’ve just gotta accept the fact that FOX has to make room for terrific shows like Dark Angel, Titus, Undeclared, Action, That 80’s Show, Wonderfalls, Fastlane, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Skin, Girls Club, Cracking Up, The Pits, Firefly, Get Real, Freaky Links, Wanda At Large, Costello, The Lone Gunmen, A Minute With Stan Hooper, Normal: Ohio, Pasadena, Harsh Realm, Keen Eddy, The Street, American Embassy, Cedric the Entertainer, The Tick, Louie, and Greg the Bunny.

Lois: Is there no hope?

Peter: Well I suppose if ALL those shows go down the tube then we might have a shot.

All hail the return of one of the greatest TV shows of all time. Let us hope and pray it will stay on the air for a good long run.
